(Live in LA or Via Livestream)

Christine Hassler and I are teaming up for the first time ever! Blending our unique styles and backgrounds in life coaching, wellness and feng shui to create incredibly powerful workshop.

Christine and I have been friends for years and supported each other in making our dreams come true . . . and now we want to share our best secrets and strategies with you so you can do the same!

This workshop is for you if you want to:

  • Learn the hidden forces at play in your home that may be blocking what you want to attract (like the stuff under your bed is a reason your bed is emptier than you’d like it to be!!) . . . and get take-home tips to change them immediately!
  • Identify old stories you’ve been carrying around that are keeping you stuck (like that belief formed in elementary school that may be preventing you from getting the grown-up job you want!!) . . . and reframe them in a way that creates more abundance in your life.
  • Get clear about the physical and non-physical clutter in your life that is taking up space in your life (like the conversation you’ve been putting off and the stack of papers on your desk!!) . . . and get a declutter program to make room for what you want.

In this experiential workshop you will learn:

  • The number one thing that is keeping you from manifesting what you seek (and how it’s been under your nose all along)
  • Ancient feng shui principles made simple
  • Meditations to help you tackle your junk with ease and grace
  • What your space is (literally) saying about your life

What you will learn in just a few hours could be the most important lessons you will ever learn about how your environment affects you both inside and out.

Workshop includes:

  • Ariel and Christine guided meditations
  • A feng shui map to immediately start tackling your home or office
  • Experiential group exercises so that you leave with answers to questions you’ve been asking for years
  • One-on-one coaching where you will experience the magic of group transformation.

Living Simply By Annie http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/live-simply-by-anni http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/live-simply-by-anni#respond Wed, 30 Jan 2013 21:34:08 +0000 http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/?p=1213 Last year, I had an opportunity to have a conversation with Annie via her Living Simply questionnaire.

She asked me about my background, how I got into Feng Shui as well as what some common mistakes are that people make, and also three things everyone can do to easily improve the Feng Shui of their space.

Below is an excerpt, and you can read the full article on Annie’s site here.

You have worked with many different types of people from around the world. Is there one common mistake you see people make that’s “bad feng shui?”
I don’t believe in absolute good feng shui and bad feng shui. It is what it is. What might be right for you might not work for someone else. I do, however, believe that people’s own intuition can tell them if something is good or bad for them. I guess if I was going to sum up the principle that creates the most challenge for my clients it would be: hanging onto whatever is no longer serving their life now, today.

What are three things everyone can do to easily improve the feng shui of their space?
1. Declutter. You can’t pick up something new in your life unless you put down what you are holding onto.
2. Intentionalize. Place everything in your space with a clear intention or purpose… if you don’t know why it is there, consider letting it go. Every item in your home is a seed that contributes to your future “tree of experiences” so make sure what is in your space is reflecting where you want to go.
3. Bless. Say your version of a prayer to transform the inside of your space into a sanctuary of what is most sacred to you. This can be religious, spiritual or non-denominational.

Life By Me – Reframing http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/life-by-me-reframing http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/life-by-me-reframing#respond Sun, 20 Jan 2013 21:36:24 +0000 http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/?p=1231 I recently had the pleasure of writing for the Life By Me site, and there is something so incredible about sharing our experiences with others.

We’re often so consumed by what we want as individuals that we forget the importance of being here for each other. Community connects us to something deeper than ourselves. There’s an undercurrent of win-win, because we’re all working together for the highest good of everyone.

Head over to the Life By Me site and check out my post on Reframing.

Balance – Move Lifestyle http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/balance-move-lifestyle http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/balance-move-lifestyle#comments Wed, 16 Jan 2013 21:51:43 +0000 http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/?p=1241

This article originally appeared on Move Lifestyle.

As a feng shui consultant, I help others create balance within their physical (external) spaces. As a life-coach, I help people apply these principles to themselves and different aspects of their lives, such as relationships, career, health, etc. It should be no surprise then that these principles can also be applied to the dynamic we all refer to as the “work/life balance.”

When things get out of balance, there are consequences. If our bodies are out of balance, it is more likely that we will experience pain, discomfort or disease. If our relationships get out of balance then symptoms can arise which suddenly demand our attention. If our homes get out of balance, we often feel the difference even if that is happening on a more subtle level. If our work lives get out of balance, we can be overwhelmed, criticized or even worse, fired. The good news is, that when things are out of balance, life has a way of getting our attention.

If you are noticing any areas of your own life that feel slightly out of balance, here are some simple ways I’ve found to get things back into alignment in a hurry.

The first thing to do is CREATE A PICTURE of what your entire ideal life looks like. It is often said that we get what we aim at. We all know people who aim solely at one part of their lives, (like career), and start to get some activity going there, but it ends up being at the expense of their relationships. Or we focus on other people and it ends up being at the expense of our health.

Make a list, create a vision board or collect images of this life on Pinterest.

We must start to visualize all of these areas at the same time and aim toward that. Start daydreaming immediately. Make a list, create a vision board or just start collecting images of this life on Pinterest. Having a clear vision of the whole picture will help you take aim at the life you’re dreaming about.

Next, seek to ELIMINATE anything in your life which no longer serves this vision. This might include old thought patterns of not having enough time to do everything, it might mean letting go of certain relationships. It might just mean starting with acceptance about the way life exists now, today, in this moment. It may mean making physical space in your home, or it getting into the muck and forgiving something, or someone, you’ve been holding onto for years. This will free up extra energy to manifest your vision. They say you can’t pick up something new in your life unless you put down what you are holding onto.

Now, REFRAME your relationship to your problems. Look consciously at what you have instead of what you don’t yet have and contextualize all of your growing pains as opportunities. Realize that everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle and that you, more than anyone, deserve the benefit of the doubt. By creating a positive context for your life, you waste less time being irritated, frustrated and depressed and you get a lot more done. A little perspective can go a long way.

Lastly, BEAUTIFY your life. This might mean seeking allies who will support your new vision and outlook on life. These can be friends, family, assistants, interns, life coaches or a deeper relationship with the divine. Plan to spend more time in nature so that you can be uplifted by the negative ions that help us feel more clear-headed,

BEAUTIFY your life.

more energized and more filled with possibility. Listen to music and sing at the top of your lungs because science shows that singing boosts your immune system. At the end of it all, give thanks, because gratitude seems to draw more things into our lives which make us want to give thanks.

Please, be gentle with yourself. We are, all of us, doing the best we can under the circumstances of our lives. I hope that some of these thoughts will help inspire you to new ways of thinking and perhaps new action as well. If you find that you need any additional support, I hope you won’t hesitate to reach out. Many blessings on your journey.

An Interview with Mrs D http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/an-interview-with-mrs-d http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/an-interview-with-mrs-d#respond Thu, 20 Dec 2012 21:40:21 +0000 http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/?p=1234 Damona Hoffman, aka “Dear Mrs D” writes at http://dearmrsd.com and last January we sat down for an interview where she asked me some great questions!

Here is an excerpt from our conversation:

Dear Mrs D: What is Feng Shui?

The Feng Shui Guy: Feng Shui is the study of how your environment affects all aspects of your life. It has it’s roots in cultures from thousands of years ago, but it’s application affects us now, today. It is both an art and a science and it is designed to help us make our lives better by applying it’s principles.

Dear Mrs D: What are some simple things that people can do with Feng Shui to improve their love life?

The Feng Shui Guy: 1. Make room for someone. You can’t pick up something new in your life unless you put down what you are holding onto. If someone showed up at your door, today…where would they fit into your life?

2. Incorporate color. Studies have shown that color can affect our mood. There is a belief in Feng Shui that certain colors can help you be a magnet for love while others might be pushing people away. This goes for what you wear as well as what you have in your living space. What colors turn you on?

3. Have a clear picture of what you want. This goes for what you hold in your mind, what is on your walls and what you look at repeatedly. If you see single, you might think single…so use your imagination and start working backwards from there. Look around your space…does it scream “I’m single”?!

Dear Mrs D: Is there such a thing as Bad Feng Shui?

The Feng Shui Guy: I am not a huge fan of categorically labeling something good energy and bad energy as much as good energy for what you want to accomplish in a space and whatever gets in the way of that. There are definitely things that Feng Shui doesn’t recommend to help you achieve your goals. For example…stuff that’s good to help you at the office is great for an office, but bad for a bedroom (work, computers, cellphones, etc.) Trust your gut, some things just don’t feel right no matter what other people say. That’s usually a sign that something needs to change.

The Feng Shui of Names http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/the-feng-shui-of-names http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/blog/the-feng-shui-of-names#respond Sat, 15 Dec 2012 21:44:16 +0000 http://www.thefengshuiguy.com/?p=1236 Woa… Feng Shui for naming babies? YES!

I got to speak with Taylor Hengen Newman of Baby Zone and we discuss how the Feng Shui principle of balance can help when choosing the name of your baby:

Find Your Balance: “The Feng Shui things you do, from arranging furniture to choosing names, should create a clean slate by establishing, above all, balance,” says Ariel Joseph Towne, a Feng Shui consultant and life coach in Los Angeles. Balancing the presence of what’s known as the “Five Elements”—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water—within one’s home can, according to Feng Shui’s principles, produce certain desired effects. The color green, which corresponds with the wood element (think plant life), will, when placed in the Eastern area of your home, encourage your career’s growth. While Feng Shui’s methodology is fairly complex, thinking about the meaning behind your choices—whether you’re decorating your living room, or naming a baby—is fundamental to its practice.

“Incorporating Feng Shui’s main principles of balance, harmony and flow into a name can mean representing these characteristics in the name’s literal meaning— names like Harmony, Grace, or Joy are a few that are also actual English words with positive definitions—or creating a sense of these characteristics through sound and association. Perhaps you associate the name Michael with a family member you love and admire, and so you feel good when you hear or say that name. Always begin by asking yourself how a name makes you feel when you say it; this will help to define the name’s meaning for you. You can, of course, look into the traditional meanings behind that name, as well.”

Account for “Inheritor’s Chi”: Naming a baby after someone else is a wonderful way to honor that person, but take stock of all of Grandpa’s personality traits before passing his moniker on. “Considering the total energy of the person will help you strike a balance when it comes to a Feng Shui concept called ‘Inheritor’s Chi,’ ” says Towne. “If you’re planning to name a new baby after a family member who was warm and loving, but also, say, had a hot temper, you might choose a middle name representing — for you — tolerance or patience, something to balance the energy out.”

Tell a Story: “More importantly than whether a name is traditionally considered auspicious, or lucky, is the energy the name carries,” says Candace Vorhaus, a New York-based Feng Shui consultant and spiritual coach. “Be sure to share the stories behind your children’s names with them as they grow; they’ll derive a sense of belonging, and meaning, from hearing of the care you took in naming them. This will infuse their names with positive energy; they’ll carry that with them, too.”

Use Your Senses: “Feng Shui is simply the act of consciously, intentionally creating an environment that elevates ‘Chi’, which is the traditional Chinese principle of life force, or energy flow,” says Vorhaus. “Sound and sight are elements of one’s environment, so choosing a name that sounds pleasant when said aloud, and looks appealing when written, will enable you to instinctively choose a name that optimizes Chi. Use as many of your senses as you can when naming anything!” Vorhaus recommends writing a name you may be considering, and asking yourself, as well as friends and family members, to say the name aloud. Watch and listen for their reactions to the name, as well as your own response to its sound when it’s said aloud by others.

Do the Math: Feng Shui evolved through several cultures, and some people still practice its principles according to strict tradition. “One might, for instance, utilize numerology in choosing a name,” Towne says. “According to this method, each letter in the alphabet corresponds to a number between one and nine. One can derive the numerical representation of a name, and read meaning into that name based on the characteristics associated with the number. For example, in Chinese culture, the number eight is considered quite lucky, as it represents abundance.” Crunching the numbers in a name (even your own!) can be fun — books and websites on the subject can teach you how — but Towne reminds us not to sweat the math too much. “It all comes back to meaning, which everyone interprets differently,” he says. “If a name feels good to you, that’s what counts.”
