Everything is Energy

I hope this message finds you well, healthy and happy.

Things are starting to heat up. Literally. The weather here in Los Angeles has been pretty comfortable and on the colder side for much of the year thus far. And this week, things are starting to “warmify.”

Have you noticed? Are things warm where you are? The heat outside us ends up affecting our insides. This stuff works outside in as well as inside out…

Global warming seems to be on the tip of everybody’s tongue. Water cooler conversations. Magazine covers. Myspace blogs.

(For a quick break, watch Will Ferrell playing George Bush on Global Warming)

So, where does global warming start? Is it really just our lightbulbs and exhaust pipe that is causing this? Is buying a dvd of “an inconvenient truth” enough? Is hiking to protest enough? It may not be, but it is an excellent start.

Beyond whatever outward actions you may be taking (and thank you for doing so), please remember that our environment begins at home. And more than in our home, it begins within us. And more than within our body, it first starts with our thoughts, our own inner energy system. From there, all else manifests outwards like a spiral. Touching people we come in contact with. Then people they come in contact with. This energy affects our shopping choices. Each thought, word and action affecting a greater number of people.

But it all starts with energy…which can sometimes be somewhat vague. So to explore this notion further…

The thought for the month is: Everything is energy. It’s not just “stuff.”

What does that mean?

It means that every item on your walls, every item in your drawers, every piece of furniture is vibrating, pulsating with life energy. Some items vibrate faster and some of them vibrate slower.

And, big surprise to some of you, you are made of energy too. That’s right. All of your “solid” muscles and bones and cells are made up of the same pulsating life energy.

So yes, the items in your home can (and do) respond to your thoughts, your prayers and your intentions. Items that particularly effective at sending and receiving energy are: plants, water and crystals.

Plants have been shown to respond to being talked to, they respond to classical music and they respond to prayer.

Water moving through nature generates negative ions which fill the air with their life promoting electrical charge.

And crystals are known to uphold the positive energy called chi in your home or office.

So even if you say to yourself, I can’t move my couch. My bed only fits against this wall or, but I like the way this looks here! I don’t want “feng shui” to take that away from me. It won’t. The goal is for you to love where you live. To feel nurtured and supported where you work. And you don’t always have to move stuff in order to achieve that.

But you do have to become aware…ever increasingly aware…
