Set Your Intentions
What do you want to attract in the new year?
Some people set new years resolutions. are tricky. Usually resolutions are related to something that we feel ashamed about that we want to “fix.” The thing about that is that when we decide there is something about us that we want to “fix”, then we are using our mental energy in a way that reaffirms the very thing we want to see shift!!
Thoughts are things. That which we think about grows. So instead of focusing on the thing we don’t want, see if you can spend some time getting specific about the things you DO want!
Instead of creating a resolution (something that needs fixing), see if there is a way for you to create a set of new years intentions. These intentions can be in one area of life or they can be intentions in each of the nine areas of life:
Career, Wisdom, Family, Finances, Fame, Relationships, Creativity & Travel. So how are these thoughts related to feng shui?
Ideally feng shui is about having your inner and outer selves in alignment. This means the mental picture of the life you want to create is actually unfolding before you on a regular basis. If there is a disconnect between what you say you want from your life and what is actually happening in your life, then see if you can discover whether you have been focusing on THAT WHICH YOU DON’T WANT and trying to fix it, instead of setting an intention and allowing your life to unfold.
Here are three ways that you can begin to discover what your intentions for the new year are:
- BRAIN DUMP: Do a “brain dump.” Write down any and every thing that comes to mind that you would like to experience in your life in 2007. See if you can write without letting your critic out of its cage. Just write. Big or small. Trivial or life-changing. Sometimes we have to allow the orange water to flow out of the tap before we can see the clear water behind it.
- RATE YOUR PASSION: Now see if you can review your list and on a scale of 1 to 10 assign a number to each item on your list. 1 being the faintest and 10 being the strongest of how passionate you are about experiencing this. Don’t rate how confident you are you can achieve it. Don’t rate whether or not you feel deserving of it. Just simply rate how passionate you are about experiencing it. On a scale of 1 to 10. Go!
- VISION BOARD: You can put these items in order from most passionate to least passionate. Then see if you can make a visual representation of this list. Grab a bunch of magazines and cut out images and words that relate to your list. Buy some poster board and begin to assemble this visual representation of your dreams. You will need magazines, scissors, glue and a pen. Also your imagination and your creativity.
Now place your creation in your home so that you can see it. On your desk. On the wall. On a bookshelf. Every day when you look at this vision board you will begin to allow your unconscious mind go to work bringing your dreams into existence.
If you need to take your time with this…do it.
If you need help…ask for it.
Just do your best. Your best is enough. Always.
